30 Great Critical Thinking Posters

Critical thinking has always been one of the key skills not only in learning but in life in general. With the advent of artificial intelligence and the proliferation of all kinds of information online, critical thinking has become a pressing skill.

Over the years, I have shared a wide range of resources to help teachers and parents develop this skill among their kids and students. From TED talks discussing the intricacies of critical thinking to activities and digital tools, our critical thinking section here in Educators Technology is full of ready made resources to use in your class.

In today’s post, I am sharing this collection of posters I have been working on for the last few weeks. I used Canva Pro to design these visuals. The purpose is to provide you with visual aids to use with your students in your class. The posters cover various topics related to critical thinking more specifically:

– The Critical Thinking Circle (4 posters) – A visual breakdown of the essential steps in the critical thinking process.
– Question and Imagine: The Catalyst of Creativity (2 posters) – Encourage students to ask questions and let their imagination soar.
– Collect & Compare: The Power of Diverse Perspectives (3 posters) – Highlight the importance of considering different viewpoints.
– Decide & Reflect: Completing the Critical Thinking Cycle (2 posters) – Guide students through decision-making and reflection.
– Characteristics of Critical Thinkers (2 posters) – Showcase the traits of strong critical thinkers.
– Critical Thinking Questions (1 poster) – A quick reference for sparking meaningful discussion.
– Boost Your Critical Thinking: Quick Reminders for Every Day (2 posters) – Practical tips to keep critical thinking at the forefront.
– Critical Thinking Skills Examples (2 posters) – Real-world examples to illustrate critical thinking in action.
– Problem-Solving in Action (2 posters) – Encourage strategic thinking through problem-solving activities.
– THINK Before You Speak (10 posters) – A popular visual guide to help students pause and think critically before responding.

critical thinking posters

These posters are available for a discounted fee and come in different formats including PDF, PNG, and editable Canva formats. For those of you who want to further edit the posters, they can use the embeded link in the file. However, keep in mind that I used several materials that are only available to Canva Pro users. So unless you are a premium user you will not be able to customize or use those items.

I hope you will find the insights and visual content in those posters helpful. I made the posters available for purchase through various stores including our Educators Technology Shop, Teachers Pay Teachers, or our shop in Gumroad.

Here is a YouTube shorts that provide a quick sneak peek into what this bundle of critical thinking posters contain:

What Are Character Traits

Character traits are “positive traits reflected in thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. They exist in degrees and can be measured as individual differences” (Park, Peterson, & Seligman, 2004, p. 603). These traits are enduring qualities that influence how individuals think, feel, and act, distinguishing them from one another based on these measurable differences.

While many use character traits and personality traits interchangeably, the two concepts are distinct. As Bleidorn and Denissen (2015) argue, character traits “are supposed to be morally valued in their own right, regardless of the specific outcomes they produce or the needs they fulfill” (p. 700). This moral dimension sets character traits apart, as they are inherently seen as virtues that contribute to an individual’s overall character.

Furthermore, a trait is any behavior that is consistent over time and across situations. As Fleeson (2012) stated, “consistency is what makes the behavior a trait rather than an accident, a fluke, or the sole consequence of circumstances” (p. 40). This consistency is crucial in defining a trait, ensuring that it is a reliable aspect of an individual’s behavior rather than a temporary or situational response.

Character traits play a crucial role in shaping significant life outcomes. According to a study by Roberts et al. (2007), the predictive power of personality traits on key life outcomes such as mortality, divorce, and occupational success is comparable to that of socioeconomic status (SES) and cognitive ability. Recognizing the importance of character traits not only enhances our understanding of individual differences but also aids in developing interventions and policies aimed at improving overall life satisfaction and success.

Effective One Pager Examples

One Pager Examples

One-pagers are single-page documents designed to provide concise summaries, capturing the essence of the content in a compact format. They serve as executive summaries and can take various forms, incorporating doodles, sketches, text, and shapes. One-pagers are typically visually rich, leveraging their ability to present key information in an engaging and easily digestible manner. Their strength lies in their visual appeal and effectiveness in conveying main points quickly and clearly.

In the classroom, one-pagers are particularly effective for enhancing students’ comprehension and retention of information. While they are commonly used in language learning classes, one-pagers are valuable across various subjects. As a teacher, you can use one-pagers to review lessons, provide quick overviews of main topics, and summarize key points.

Students can also benefit from one-pagers by using them to review reading materials, brainstorm ideas, and organize their thoughts. For instance, they can create a one-pager to summarize a book or article, or to visually map out their ideas for a project. One-pagers promote active engagement and make learning more interactive and enjoyable.

How to Create One-pagers

The key to creating effective one-pagers is to clearly articulate and represent ideas in a visually and aesthetically comprehensible way. Designing a one-pager can sometimes be daunting, especially for students who may not have a natural inclination for artistic expression. This is where teacher guidance becomes crucial.

Teachers should reassure students that the primary goal is to demonstrate understanding and create executive summaries that highlight the main ideas of a topic. Emphasizing clarity and comprehension over artistic perfection helps all students feel confident in their ability to create meaningful one-pagers.

The best and most effective way to create visually rich one-pagers is to use Canva. If you have a Canva Pro account, it’s even better, as you’ll have access to a wide variety of assets. Here’s how you can get started:

  1. Search for Templates: Run a search in Canva using the keyword “one-pager” and browse through the results.
  2. Choose a Template: Click on a template you like and customize it to fit your needs.
  3. Customization: Add your own text, images, and design elements to personalize the template.
  4. Starting from Scratch: Alternatively, you can start with a blank canvas and build your one-pager from the ground up.

Besides Canva, you can also use other tools such as Visme, Piktochart, PowerPoint, and Google Slides to create one-pagers. Each of these tools offers various features and templates that can help you design a visually appealing and effective one-pager.

Main Elements of a One-Pager

While the elements of a one-pager can differ from one project to another, certain components are essential for creating a clear and effective document. These key elements include:

  • Title or Headline: A clear and concise title that immediately conveys the subject of the one-pager.
  • Introduction or Overview: A brief introduction that provides context and highlights the importance of the content.
  • Key Points/Bullet Points: Organized sections with key points or bullet points that summarize the main information.
  • Visuals: Relevant images, icons, charts, or diagrams that enhance understanding and make the content more engaging.
  • Call to Action: A clear call to action, guiding the reader on what to do next.

A one-pager designed for a classroom lesson will naturally differ from one created for a business meeting or report. In educational settings, the focus might be on summarizing lesson content or reviewing key concepts, while in a business context, the emphasis could be on presenting data, project updates, or strategic plans. Adjusting these elements to fit the specific purpose and audience is crucial for an effective one-pager.

Bullet Journal Ideas

Daily logs in a bullet journal serve as a central hub for your day-to-day activities. They typically include a list of tasks, events, and miscellaneous notes that help keep your daily life organized. This section is invaluable for managing daily to-do lists, setting reminders for appointments, and jotting down last-minute changes or ideas. The straightforward format allows for quick referencing and updating throughout the day, making it easier to stay on top of your schedule and priorities.

2. Monthly Calendar

Bullet Journal Ideas

A monthly calendar in your bullet journal provides a bird’s-eye view of the month ahead. By using a traditional calendar layout, you can easily mark and view important dates such as meetings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other significant events. It’s also a great space to visually see how your month is shaping up and to balance your workload and personal life.

3. Habit Tracker

Bullet Journal Ideas

Habit trackers are incredibly effective tools in a bullet journal for monitoring and building new habits. By setting up grids to track daily activities like drinking water, reading, exercising, or meditating, you create a visual accountability tool. Over time, this method can significantly aid in establishing and maintaining healthy routines and behaviors.

4. Mood Tracker

Bullet Journal Ideas

Mood trackers in a bullet journal use colors or symbols to represent different moods throughout each day, allowing you to visually track how you feel over time. This tool is particularly useful for identifying patterns in emotional well-being and understanding the impact of various activities or events on your mood. By reflecting on this tracker, you can make informed decisions about changes you might want to implement in your life to enhance your overall happiness and mental health.

5. Meal Planner

Bullet Journal Ideas

Meal planning in a bullet journal helps streamline your dietary habits and grocery shopping. By outlining meals for the week or month, you can ensure a balanced diet, save time during grocery shopping, and avoid the stress of last-minute meal decisions. This planner can include spaces for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, making it easy to glance at what ingredients you need to buy and what meals you can look forward to. Moreover, meal planning encourages healthier eating habits by promoting home-cooked meals over impulsive or less nutritious choices.

6. Budget Tracker

Bullet Journal Ideas

A budget tracker in your bullet journal is a fundamental tool for managing your finances effectively. It allows you to record all your expenses and savings, helping you stay within your financial limits and avoid overspending. This section can be divided into categories such as rent, groceries, entertainment, and utilities, providing a clear overview of where your money is going each month. By keeping close tabs on your spending patterns, you can make more informed decisions about your finances, set realistic savings goals, and better prepare for future expenses.

7. Reading List

Bullet Journal Ideas

Maintaining a reading list in your bullet journal not only helps keep track of the books you wish to read but also serves as a motivational tool to continue reading regularly. This section can include a checklist of titles to read, spaces to write brief summaries, and areas to jot down impactful quotes or thoughts from each book. It’s a great way to reflect on what you’ve learned and how certain reads have influenced your thinking. Plus, seeing the list grow can be incredibly satisfying and a visual reminder of your literary journey.

8. Gratitude Log

Bullet Journal Ideas

A gratitude log is a simple yet powerful addition to any bullet journal. By dedicating a space to write down things you are thankful for each day or week, you cultivate an attitude of gratitude and positive thinking. This practice can significantly impact your mental health, helping to reduce stress and increase overall happiness. Reflecting on the positives in your life regularly can shift your mindset to notice and appreciate the good, even on more challenging days.
